Balsam Community Pantry

The Pantry was established in late 2024 in response to the devastating losses that our region suffered in the aftermath of hurricane Helene.

A small storage building was purchased by the community center in cooperation with Jackson county officials to provide access to emergency relief supplies flowing into the area from charitable organizations across the country.

Our volunteers have transported relief supplies from local warehouses to our pantry to provide free food, clothing, first aid supplies, soap, personal hygiene items, electronics, shoes, blankets and much more.

We have established partnerships with local charities such as Mountain Core Mission, Jackson County Community Table, and other charitable organizations in the area that have been essential to the success of our pantry.

The community response to the pantry has been overwhelmingly positive. Along with expressions of gratitude, a strong community spirit of cooperation and generosity has been demonstrated by numerous gifts of food, clothing and supplies being dropped off at the pantry by local community members.

Currently, the volume of supplies in the local warehouses is at a low point and charitable resources are struggling to meet the local needs, but our pantry volunteers have been able to purchase some essentials with some monetary donations that have come from our community.

We would like to continue with our effort to help out those in need, but we need your support. Your donation will have a direct and immediate impact on our community. Please help in our effort to improve the lives of our neighbors.
